The Department of Anaesthesia provides anaesthetic services for all surgical, medical and diagnostic procedures as required in the Hospital.  This includes cover for all surgical specialties with the exception of paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology.  The Department also covers neurointerventional and other radiological procedures as well as endoscopy procedures.  In 2009, the total number of procedures covered was in excess of 13000.  In addition the Department runs an outpatient anaesthetic pre-assessment clinic, an anaesthetic allergy clinic, an acute pain service, and a vascular access service.
